We decided to go to San Blas and stay a few days with the Kuna people.
Made arrangements to catch a small plane to the islands.
Went to the airport, checked our bags and got on.
The pilots got on fiddled around with something for abit. Then the main pilot got off and we seen him go around and lift the engine cover heard him banging on something and talking to another man as they looked at the engine, then shaking his head in frustration or disgust he got back on the plane. UMMMM just a bit spooked!
He reved up the engine and we were off. We had never been in a small plane so not sure if its suppose to sound and shake like that???
At any rate we had two stops along the way to pickup Kuna people. When we came in on the first Island Roy said hold on were not going to make it!! That runway was the size of a postage stamp and we came right to the edge of the ocean before he got it stopped. When we took off he set the brakes revved up the engine till the plane shook and let off the brake.
We felt like we'd been shot out of a slingshot. But we made it.
They have a place you rent a room and they feed you and take you to a different island
everyday.
It is lovely and each island has a bit different setting and hike to see around the island.
Roy wanted a coconut he seen some laying on the ground and asked if he could have one,
The gentleman said he would have to Pay and Roy asked how much---------$.50
No problem, gave him the money and instead of picking one up from the ground
he climbed the tree with bare feet and hands and no rope all the way to the top and got
a fresh coconut.
The meals were interesting.
