As I mentioned previously, the week home was a bit of a blur, but I felt I wanted to remember it in my dear dad's memory. It was a really sad time, but also a wonderful time with our whole family who had come from all over Australia to be there.
There was a lot of organizational things to do, interspersed with lots of tears and laughter as we all walked down memory lane quite a few times.I had a lot of things to work through relating to being away at the time, but was really pleased to have had the opportunity to chat with dad every day on Facetime and see him at the same time. I was glad I only missed a week at the end. In reality, if dad had lived another 40 years, it wouldn't have been enough for us!!!
Dad was loved and respected by so many of all ages and from all around the world, and this as shown by the many emails and letters from people overseas who had not seen him for so long, and by the full church at the memorial service, as well as the correspondence that still continues to arrive.
We had a few days organizing the funeral and memorial service and then through a few conversations, decided to return to Canada to continue the trip, so spent more time on the internet and ….. off we went !!!
Love you dad.
