The pack up was smooth, Gregg and Deb managed to find us, and we had a lovely relaxed brunch at the condo together before heading back down the hill. We realised how long one of the runs we did was when we drove past the lift long after we thought we had left the resort!!!.
It was a magically sunny day and it was just beautiful with the snow glistening and distant views. The lake stretches the whole way along the road from Kelowna to Vernon and I was busy clicking away on my camera the whole way.
When we got back to Vernon, we stopped at the house to put the roast on, relax for a while, and then we headed out to pick Alyssa up from work at the Sparkling Hill Hotel where she works. WOW. Some resort!!- up in the hills at a golf course- oh how the other half live!! We managed to get to see a "standard" room, and one of the Penthouse suites. Oh yes, I could learn to live that kind of lifestyle!!!- the photos don't do it justice!!
After driving back with Alyssa and Amber in the hatch back of the car- reminiscent of our girls doing the same thing in the Kia - we had a lovely dinner and evening catching up with our friends. It was great to catch up with the kids again- we had seen the girls last time we visited, but hadn't seen Joel and Jeremy since 2000.
We had quite a late night- particularly as we had to put our clocks forward that night - oh well, sleep is over-rated- particularly when catching up with friends.!!! I managed to have a last call from Canada to mum, Ruth and Ali, and had our last nights sleep in Canada for this trip.
Our last day - beautiful omelette, crepes with Nutella and fruit, coffee, great company, followed by sitting around watching Youtube clips and listening to Hillsong music, interspersed with chats- a lovely end to our time here.
The drive back to Kelowna was beautiful, the flight uneventful, and before we knew it, we were on board the flight home, with a spare seat between us, thanks AirNZ, watching the entertaining safety video.
I had a brief gulp when we arrived in Melbourne as I read the signs telling us that they were filming Border Security in the airport that day- oh how famous I could have been if I didn't check my pockets in Whitehorse!!!
Had a great 24 hours in Melbourne with Brenda and the family - lunch at Melissa's café with Brenda, Noelle and Jackson, a jetlagged zombie walk around the shopping centre and then fish and chips with the whole family that night.
I was so keen to get home and see the family - I rushed off the plane, …only to find that Beth and Fern had been delayed and were still on their way - boohoo. Never mind - we caught up and had a lovely lunch together at Brighton, dropped in on mum and Ruth on the way home, and finally were at home sweet home. Another trip done and dusted.
