Hello hello hello (three hellos is the way to do it) thank you for showing a interest in Thomas and Johannas around the world adventures, hopefully this blog will contain exciting, witty, funny, omg moments and much much more.
To start are story we're still in heathrow happily heading to gate 40 (30 min walk, we always get the further gate), when we get their we notice the flight to bangkok is being flown by thai airline, we need Quantus airline, the kind gents at the gate suggest we walk back to the main waiting area and double check, we do to find our flight "sydney via Bangkok" gate 13, unlucky for some hey!!!! We jump on board I try my luck and ask can we sit upstairs (on the jumbo jet) to the reply we take credit card sir, I hung my head and walked thru 1st class (I hate that, the small rich people smiling with lots of leg room as all the tall porpers walk through. Watched the new fighting film warrior which was rubbish, lol. Food was served which everyone around us was tucking in to theirs before we had the choice between lamb pot or fish. When our food came the gent said sorry guys we've only got fish now!! Noooooooo I replied... As Johanna and I only eat fish from sea-wise Camden (get yourself down their). We had bread rolls with the promise that for breakfast we will be 1st to choose. Three minutes later he returned which I can only describe as captains or business classes food as on my (real) plate I had perfect rice with a massive piece of chicken covered in gravy, my face light up!!!! And my stomach was full (had to share with Jo though :-). Arrived in Bangkok airport, toilet, immigration, baggage collection, 40 minute taxi ride we pulled up outside our first hotel. Bangkok centre hotel. Peter (from work) and I had goggled and read the reviews from trip adviser for the hotel which mentioned, unhappy staff, extremely dirty, loud notices and rubbish window view. We had none of the above, lovely double bed, warm power shower (with free soap and shower gel whooohoooo) and air con. We had ten minutes to sit down then down stairs to meet the tour guide and rest of the group. As we entered the restaurant we expected a group of people our age, some English some German some American some couples and some singles. What we did have is around 10 +50s year olds mostly from Canada. Not the end of the world just a lot less Chang beer and less exciting story's until we get to Australia. We meet our tour guide a lovely Thai lady called phoneshanganson and she asked us to call her phone. :-) we said our names and where we come from around the table, as it got to the only other young couple the guy said, will young from Australia. I looked at Jo and we chuckled like school kids. we have a hour induction too the tour and then we all decided to go for dinner together. Quickly popping back to our room I said to will in the lift sorry, is your name will young, will said yes. I said like the English singer he laughted and said yes, I then turned and buckled as I left the lift!!!! (what a idiot Thomas! Insult someone the fall out of a lift!!) we had a quick meal together, then we slip from the group, we went for a walk to find a Thai massarge but were unsuccessful so went back to the hotel and hit the sack as we were extremely tried from the journey.
Woke up, lovely buffet breakfast then Tok Tok to the temple Wat Po. Had a great walk around and tour, some great photos of the enormous lying down gold buddha. Then a boat tour to go to the floating market. We where on the boat for around a hour, feed some massive karp fish with bread rolls, saw and took photos of a few scary fat lizards basking in the sun. Then went back to the pier, when jumping off the boat i asked phone, "where was the floating market, which she replied it's only on on a Saturday and Sunday"!!!! (not great for us consedering we went on a Friday). We where then left in a food market for some free time, which Johanna and I decided to walk up to the famous ko San road, of youve never heard of it before, it's more like being in Camden market then Thailand. Had lunch in the Irish bar just for Aaron Gibbs (my boss who always eats in a irish pub where ever he goes in the world) then found a free wifi cafe, which Johanna jumped for joy as we had a beer, ice cream and Internet access. We wanted to have a massage but no time as normally you have 1/2 or hour massages. back to the hotel no time for a shower (proper travellers yeahhh) so we dipped our feet in the swimming pool to the discussed to two people sun bathing by the pool, hey Ho we need fresh feet for our train journey. Walked and grabbed some beer and KFC for the overnight train (around 12 hours) to Chang mai. Phone our tourguide is in a different carriage due to no space, but I reckon she's chilling in 1st class. Image a four seat section on a overground tube with a table, that's all ours, just the two of us, bottom seats turn in To a large single bed and a bed folds down from the celling, a bed has been set up and made as no one was on the seats and it looks quite comfy. Too beeee continued, sorry no ping pong or she male sightings yet.
