So after stepping of a night bus in Trujillo we weren't quite sure where we were. Thinking that it wasn't too far to the centre we decided to walk it. Bad idea for anyone else in the area, it was much further than it looked on the map and by the time we made it to plaza de armas we were tired and sweaty.
Hostel was ok near the main square and we got our tour through them too. This cost us 30 soles for the whole day plus the entrance fees which we felt was an offer too good to pass up, since it is normally 20 for the morning and 20 for the afternoon. This however was going to be a very long day.
So not even 2 hours off a night bus and we were set for the first part of the tour. We stopped of at the sun and moon temples along with the museum. You can't enter the sun temple only see it from the outside, but it looks impressive from the moon temple. The moon temple is worth the money, and our guide made it even better. Informative and because there was only the three of us for the english tour we could ask as many questions as we wanted. The museum was ok, a lot of reading as per usual in a place like that but for 3 soles what do you expect.
Lunch, and away from the group. They offered us a lunch for 14 soles, we found one for less than 7 so never go with the group if you can help it. Second half of the tour had more people in the English group as we headed off to Chan Chan. Before this however we went to the hippy temple or properly know as the rainbow temple which was ok, but nothing too special.
Chan Chan is the reason to visit Trujillo but I was slightly dissappointed and thought that the moon temple was muh better so if you have the time for both, I highly recommend that you do so.
After all the temples we stopped of at Huanchaco which is a neighbouring village where everyone goes to surf. We bought ice creams and watched them fall off the boards whilst we waited for the bus back to Trujillo.
The three hours in the morning and the 4 hours in the afternoon was enough to tire anybody out, even more so if you hadn't slept great on a night bus. Booked tickets to leave the next day to Piuna, heading to the boarding a step closer to Ecuador.
