Our next stop on the road down south was the town of Invercargill the most southerly town in the south island. We hadn't really done any research on Invercargill and therefore had no idea what this town had to offer so the first stop was the tourist info office. As it turned out there really wasn't much on offer in Invercargill so what was going to be a 2-3 night stopover was soon cut to 1 night! The information site was attached to the museum so we spent an hour or so browsing some of the more interesting exhibits of which there were only a few! After the museum we had a walk around the botanic gardens before heading to the library to check our emails. Unfortunately it was the Library that was to be the scene of our first crime since leaving home. The internet ran on $2 coins so we put one in the computer and sat one on the top for later. When Michael got up to go to the toilet a scruffy man pretended to trip on a chair and fell into me giving me a fright to distract me long enough to take the other $2 coin! So apologies to everyone we were supposed to email that day but as we were the victims of crime we had to cut short out internet for the day! We had a quick walk around the town however we soon realised that it wasn't really our kind of place so we got our groceries and headed to a campsite outside of town. We decided to stay at a campsite on a farm as we thought it would be a bit different. On checking in the couple who ran the camp invited us to park up the van and then come back around to help them feed some of their orphan lambs! We jumped at the chance and were able to feed the lambs and learn a bit about the farm and how much work is involved in looking after a flock of sheep. With the memory of the theft behind us we spent the rest of the night chilling out in the van with the sound of a rain storm battering off our tin roof!
