Nadeane & Dean's Trip
Hi everyone,
Today is sadly our last day in Central America. We hop on a plane at 6.45am tomorrow to Canada. We are a bit sad to leave, Central America has been so much better than we could have imagined, and we have been having such a great time. But there is more fun in store in Canada im sure.
We stayed 5 nights in Valladolid, which is a small little town halfway between Cancun and Merida. It was nice and quiet and cheap too! We stayed three nights for only $10 a night in a room owned by Antonio Ñegro Aguilar, who is apparently a local celebrity as he used to play major league baseball. We bought a little esky and had cold beers and chips most nights and played cards, and just relaxed. We did a day trip to Chichen Itza, which was really good, and we also went and swam in a cenote, which is basically an underground sink hole, which has fresh water. It was really nice.
On th e4th and 5th day we decided to spoil ourselves and splashed out $25 a night to get a nice hotel with a pool. We sat by the pool and drank beers and pina coladas for two days straight.... Perfect!!
From Valladolid, we traveled here to Isla Mujeres, which is an island just off the coast of cancun. We were planning to stay in a youth hostel for $26 a night, but when we arrived off the ferry a little mexican man approached us and offered us a room at his place for $18 a night, which we accepted and it turned out to be a really nice place, and probably the cheapest on the whole island. He also took us snorkelling yesterday and we saw an amazing number of fish and coral, it was beautiful. And the lunch was fantastic... check out the photos!
So today we head over to the mainland... Cancun, with its skyscrapers and overpriced everything, for one night so that we can get to the airport in time for our flight.
No more chances to practice our spanish until Spain either, so Hasta la vista, nosotros tenemos feliz viaje!
(See you later, we've had a great trip!)
