Heck, you really are having a wonderful time! Sorry the whale watching trip was cancelled. Yes, Kaikoura is a very pretty place. So glad you are 'doing' the West coast..you'll get some good photos at Pancake Rocks. Is the Franz Joseph glacier still retreating?
Loads of lovely camp sites around the Lake at Wanaka.
Try to get a flight round Mt.Cook.
I didn.t get to Queenstown but understand it is magnificent.

Wow, sounds like ur having an amazing time! NZ is brilliant for doin all the crazy stuff like throwing yourself down a hill in a massive ball! When you get 2 the south island I really recommend u do a sky dive in Abel Tasman, the views are awesome and u get 2 have a look around once you've plucked up the courage 2 actually jump out of the plane! So glad you enjoyed the glider flying and Gem's flights in the Tow plane. Aren't the views wonderful.

Best of luck with your drive round the South Island. I do recommend starting off down the West coast via Greymouth and Heast Pass to Wanake and Queenstown. Lookout for the White Heron Sanctuary, Pancake Rocks and Franz Joseph Glacaier.
