Well then, looks like this is it. The journey has finally come to an end. Hard to believe that we've been away for 6 months, it has flown by. We've been back in Bangkok for the last couple of days and its as chaotic as ever. While i'm here writing our final journal entry Gems over the road enjoying an oil massage at the hands of a lady who I suspect may not have been born a lady.
I cant remember where I got up to in the last journal, I think we were up to Koh Lanta. If so... our next destination was Koh Phi Phi which was the location for Leonardo Di Caprios mediocre film, The Beach. The locals cashed in and as a result the island was fairly expensive. This didn't take away from the beauty of the place, it was spectacular. We managed to fit in a mornings scuba diving which was great, the highlight definitely being having our picture taken next to a sleeping leopard shark (we were very careful not to wake him up!)
Pretty much the whole of Phi Phi was destroyed by the tsunami a couple of years ago and the rebuilding process is slow. The fact that everything has to be brought from the mainland and that there are no roads on Phi Phi doesn't help. There are still huge areas of rubble but they're getting there and this time they are building all the resorts out of concrete instead of wood.
I think that for the final time, thats about all I have to tell you. We're flying out of Bangkok tonight and we should be back in Manchester by lunchtime tomorrow just in time to enjoy a Bank Holiday weekend.
Hope you've enjoyed our little website and we'll see you all soon xxxxxxxx
