The time was 1pm and I had not finished packing, I had not showered and I needed to leave for the train station at 1.30... So you can see the dilemma!
I managed to get the train in time, saying goodbye to the mum. The mum who panics if I do not wear my safety helmet riding my bicycle, so god only knows what must be going on in her head right now.
Upon arriving in Preston, the weight of my luggage hits me as I try to climb the stairs one step at a time each feeling like an impossible task. You will realise I seem to give of this idea of damsel in distress not purposely but it always comes in very useful I admit. So Mr National Rail comes to the rescue helping me carry my bags up and down the monstrous staircases.
After the rush to catch the train I realise I am an hour early for my train to London, sadly I am used to this happening. So to the pub it was for some food.
I wasted an hour on platform 4, and it was finally time to catch my train. To get from platform to platform you have to go through tunnels under the tracks and then go up big ramps. So I take my journey from platform 4 to 6 struggling as I go to only realise upon arrival that I actually needed to be on platform 4.
The train arrives to go to London, I am climb on board with all my stuff to hear "This is the 15.53 service, 15.59 tickets are not valid." People start rushing past me and then I realise I need to get of this train!! I go to leave the train, the doors shut and the trains sets off.
So you can imagine the panic I am in, luckily tickets were not checked...
I arrive into London expecting a certain person to meet me and shock horror he is late … Seyi (the bf) lol. I begin the walk up to the main station, when a man stops with his national rail car thing and asks me if I need help. I say thank you and decline the offer. About a minute later he is back so it would be rude to say no. So like a Queen in her chariot I was drove into the main station.
Later to see another National Rail Car Thing helping two old ladies get through the station lol.
Seyi finally arrived with his friend Michelina, and they rushed me off because they had a surprise for me. I had no idea what this surprise would be but I had been told... "it will make your wildest dreams come true literally" and "dress smart casual". What the heck is smart casual anyway you southerners and your weird ways.
The London underground it still confuses me sometimes but I love it. Travelling with my bags bumping into everyone and everything. Sometimes the underground reminds me of an action movie when there is a bomb and Bruce Willis is running through the carriages like a crazy person. Sometimes a horror film, but a lot of the time it reminds me of the Pussycat Dolls video "Wait a minute". It takes all my strength not to start dancing around the carriage!!
But hundreds of people in complete silence. I don't get it, it is just so awkward I would have to make friends with somebody!! I couldn't imagine travelling to work everyday in silence that is just weird.
Finally we arrive in Victoria Station the home of West End Shows, and we walked into the theatre were Wicked was showing and a smile was glued to my face. It was a dream to even see a West End Show especially Wicked and he knew that, so he would in the good books for life now! The show had already begun so I only crushed one man's feet to get to my chair (oops).
I had done a couple of the numbers in college and heard songs on Glee, so to see it sang live by the professionals... Wow the singers were incredible and gave me goosebumps.
Half way through the show I started to get really bad stomach and chest pains, and presumed I was just hungry and tried to ignore the pain (8pm). It came to just before midnight and admitted that I was in pain and needed some form of pain killers. They were set on taking me to the hospital and they had no chance. To sit for hours to be told just take some anti inflammatory tablets, I am northern I can handle it!
