Our new Chinese friend wanted to make sure we had our photo taken in front of this tree and sign. She explained that it was very important, as Zhou Enlai had had his photo taken in the same spot (as shown on the sign next to us) Zhou Enlai was the first priemier of the Peoples Republic of China, serving under Mao Zedong from 1949 until his death in 1978.
