Still shattered, we arrive in Santiago! so off I went to our bus company terminal to ask if our 8.40am bus was in Chilean (1 hr ahead) or Argentinian time. I had completely forgotten that we were still in Chile, thy explains the odd look the lady at the counter was giving me!!
After a morning coffee (clearly required after my earlier incident) and medilunas (sweet crossaint national favourite here) we made our way to platform 22 for our next bus to Mendoza which is in Argentina (90% sure of it).
Our bus was at 8.40am, usually you arrive 15 mins before to load your luggage etc and as shocking as it may be, these long-haul busses leave dot on time. So it's now 8.43 and no sign of a bus, infact there's another companies bus in our platform area. To any other person, that would of given then a sign that sonethings not right, but to us clueless 4 we just accept it. To ease our now anxious minds, I attempted to communicate in Spanish with the security guard, asking where our bus is. From the look on his face I began to panick, he rambled some Spanish at me and by a game of charrades he informed me we where at the wrong bus terminal!!!
Like an actor from an action movie, I sprinted towards the girls shouting 'get your bags! We need to get to the other terminal'. Wish I had a moment to capture a shot of everyone's reactions. With an 18kg bag, heavy walking boots off we went for a regular sprint around the terminal. Slight problem, I don't actually know where the other bus terminal is all I understood was right and right. By now I think we all secretly thought we missed the bus.
Clearly struggling, we decided that 2 of us stay with all our luggage and the other two run to find and hopefully hold the bus for us! So off Reena and Deva went running like headless chickens. As they were doing this me and Tanna saw two green Tur buses pass us and our hearts sank : (
But wait for it, in a romantic movie style we saw Devi and Reena head pop around the corner running through the crowd toward us. (the fact that Reens has an army print snood permanently attached to her head helps).
Note to self; when back in London spend more time on the treadmill rather than doing yoga!
