For one night in Jodhpur, we treated ourselves to a stay in a converted medieval, fortified building which tons of character, and warm hosts.
We are always energized whenever we have the opportunity to have more conversations with the locals, and we haven't felt this too much since the time with our tour guides in Tamil Nadu.
His wife even came over to the place and painted Clare's hands and arms with henna designs, and did an amazing job! We were recommended a local samosa and lassi place, and had a stellar samosa with a sort of pumpkin tasting filling for about thirty cents - best value dinner so far in India!
The blue buildings of Jodhpur are apparently blue because the colour creates a cooling effect to help counter the stifling heat. It reminded us of one of our favourite destinations in Morocco, Chefchaouen, which is also stunningly blue! Let's get some more colour going on with our architecture at home, shall we?!
