Day 4 - 7
We are in Georgetown, Penang. The journey here was surprisingly pleasant, seven hour train to Butterworth and then the ferry over to Penang. The feel of the place is completely different from KL, more relaxed and less hustle bustle. It's nice!
We've spent the last few days sightseeing and eating - but not in that order :) the town is interesting with many colonial style buildings. The hostel we are staying is lovely, so much better than KL, but that is not too difficult!
The locals here have been very helpful. Tina managed to strike up a conversation with a lovely old Chinese couple whilst we were having some food in there cafe. They were very helpful and told some of the best places to see on the island. They also told Tina that she looked very young and pretty, which was nice.....they didn't mention me though, clearly an oversight on their behalf!
Tina seems to be getting a little more used to shared bathrooms and is no longer insisting on a shower every 10 minutes! So think she is beginning to turn into a traveller although I think it will take her sometime to get used to the constant mosquito bites and the odd rat or two we have come across.
We are heading back to KL today, which will take up most of the day. We then fly to Vietnam tomorrow, which we are both very excited about. We fly into Ho Chi Minh City and then the plan is to work our way up the country to Hanoi, hopefully seeing and eating some good stuff in the way!
Hope you are all ok and we will update you soon.
