Today we visited ALCATRAZ and it was a fantastic trip. A short ferry ride of 15 mins and we disembarked onto The Rock. We took the full audio tour which just made the experience even better, we got to explore the cells and solitary and the canteen and the showers etc etc. the island is beautiful with lots of nesting cormorants and gulls. Got tickets for the Big B tour bus which is the hop on hop off see all the sights bus. Fisherman's wharf looks fun we will be...

After a breakfast at Denny's - biscuit with egg and grits.......we headed out for San Francisco. The drive was really easy, mostly freeway with the first turning at 253 miles, turn two was a further 125 miles and the third turn merely 108 miles. We passed thousnds of acres of vinyards, fruit trees and walnut trees....and we arrived in San Fran around 15:30. San Fran is a nightmare to drive round, narrow streets, insane hills, strange taxi only lanes on the middl...

There are two main routes to Yosemite, the longer safer southern route or the shorter route through DeathValley and over the Tioga pass which had only just opened on May 2nd, this was the route I had chosen.......but at the last minute I changed my decision and went the long route. Leaving vegas the sat nav informs me my next turn is 253 miles.... Turn 2 comes after a further 125 miles and my final turn a merely another 108 miles.......driving in the US is awesom...

Ok this will probably be a long one....we got up at 7 and went for breakfast in the Best Western restaurant (very nice) before heading out to Yosemite for the day, no real plans just see where the road takes us. First we headed for Yosemite Valley to see El Capitan and the half dome.....words can not describe the views that met us. While Vegas was wow, Yosemite was WOW WOW WOW.
