We arrived in Iguaçu after a long journey on the bus and set off to find our hostel. We were very productive and managed to book our bus to Rio and set off for the falls on a local bus within an hour.
The Iguaçu falls were amazing. There were a few animals around such as coaties and monkeys, and a butterfly hitched a ride on Eddy's shoulder. Because the weather was quite dull a lot of animals were in hiding. There were three different trails to complete. The first one we walked to was the top of the big falls. We then walked the lower trail and got on the speedboat trip we had booked. It was a 12 minute trip that took us straight into the waterfalls and we got absolutely soaked! We were told to take our leggings off before we set off, which turned out to be great advice. The whole thing was filmed and as two young British girls the majority of the filming was focused on us! We then walked along the higher trail which had some really nice views of lots of different waterfalls. After a few hours we headed back into town.
Instead of going out for dinner we decided to make blue cheese pasta which is the first time we have cooked the whole time we have been away. It was delicious. We sat in the common area on the low sofas so that we could catch up with home using the wifi. A massive tarantula like spider crawled under my leg and Eddy was scared to death! She saw it and ran away before i even knew it was there. The hostel assistant managed to catch it and put it outside. Knowing that we had a 24 hour bus the next day we tried to get an early night in our comfy beds.
