Today we stopped off at Sebrenka on our way from Bosnia to Serbia. The Sebrenka museum visit was a very emotional experience. We had a lady talk to us about her first hand experience with the 1995 massacre that occurred there. 8,300 people were murdered and is the largest massacre to occur since the holocaust. The lady who was talking to us was only 13 when the war occurred. She lost many family members and was very heart breaking to hear her story. We then had a look around the museum and watched a very intense video, documentary before continuing our journey to Serbia. We arrived in the evening had a quick driving tour of the city before being dropped off. The city was filled with people with things like flags, fireworks and flares. They were celebrating the women's basketball team which won the Europe competition. We then had an amazing meal at a traditional Serbian restaurant.
Back on the bus and off to Budapest today. I am really looking forward to seeing this country.
Budapest was so cool! Such a hipster like city. The first night we went out to a ruins bar it was so different to any bar/ club I've ever been to. So random but really cool. The day after we woke up nice and early despite the hangover and headed off the Budapest zoo for something a bit different. It was really good. So many different animals. My favourites were the giant otters and the anaconda snakes. We then explored the markets and had some traditional Hungarian food for lunch. I had langosh, goulash and dumplings. We then had a look at the Gellert thermal spring baths, really pretty but decided to indulge in a massage instead of having a swim. Budapest is such a pretty city, many stunning buildings and funky eateries and bars.
Off to Vienna tomorrow :D
