Once again the photo is from google because we still haven´t retreived the photos from Ben´s memory card. Anyway so the next stop was Cordoba for another short stay. It´s Argentina´s second largest city and kind of the cultural mecca of the country with loads of colonial buildings, churches and museums scattered all over the place. So there´s not too much to do there apart from sight seeing, of which we divided our time over the 2 days there seeing all the main things and visiting the odd museum. I mean there are some really interesting things to see, but after the 5th odd church and the 10th odd extravagant museum we got a tad bored and so generally took it easy recharging the batteries. We went on an organised walking tour with a guy from the hostel one afternoon which was quite interesting as he told us about all the history of the town and all the structures we had previously seen. We also tried mate for the first time, the Argentinian tea like drink where you fill a gourd (a small pot that can be made of things like ceramic, glass, wood, etc) with dry yerba mate leaves, then you pour hot water into it and drink it out of a metal straw (with a sieve design to avoid the leaves being sucked up). For someone who doesn´t drink tea it was actually not bad. Also, it turns out there are all these unwritten rules of the mate that you have to follow, like always passing it to the right, never touching the straw, only ever having one person pour the water and each person having to finish the water in the gourd before it is refilled and passed on. In the end a gourd souvenir was looking more and more likely, another needless purchase but anyway. So funnily enough that´s pretty much it for Cordoba, a short but sweet purely sight seeing stop before the monster bus ride to Iguassu Falls.
