ello ello again! only 2 days and it feels like so much has happenned already! guess the last time I wrote a blog was in s***ty surat thani... a place you really DON'T want to get stuck... but the trouble is boats out to koh phangan, ko tao, and ko samui where we were actually heading only run fron 5.30 am to 5.30pm nad we made it a few hours late shall we say!!! then with jess's money troubles... a fairly crap hostel... and a fairly crap film we watched (something along the lines of zombies on a plane... we got half way through and got bored!) it wasn't great! but we got up the next day just about arround 6.45ish - still feel a little tired here and there but think I actually adjusted pretty well to the time difference shockingly enough!!! got this truck we organised to a mini pier, got tickets, waited about an hour, then got on a bus for like an hour and there we were at the pier and loaded on a boat with a few hundred other backpackers off to various islands! was beautiful looking out over these mini islands everywhere - some small some massive - but was just great being on the water with the sea breeze - knowing that finally we would get a bit of relaxation! was great! then when we made it there about an hour later we hopped off and got a taxi and checked out about 5 different hostels/hotels along the beach all for a bargain 400 baht! thats practically 7 quid... between 3 for like half an hour! nuts!!!
but we managed to find somewhere affordable eventually - a cheap 600 baht (just under a tenner!) a night with two double beds in like a bungalow - gorgeous beach literally right on their doorstep - was stunning! palm trees, refreshing sea, sand... well just regular old sand really and they cook food there too (its great... had veg spring rolls and sweet and sour veg last night with a pina colada AND then bana fritters all for about 2 quid!) so was lovely to be there yesterday - after lunch (I dont eat much here - not really hungry till the evenings so had a banana shake which is like fresh fruit with crushed ice... yummy - they do them in all fruit flavours around here!) and a plate of fresh fruit - the pinapples amazing, then watermelon, bananas, mango or papaya... it's great (but then again I would say that cos I love fruit!) but anyway - sorry for sidetracking with food! got all creamed up and spend the afternoon on the beach - got back to our bungalow to call matt around four after an afternoon in the sun and sea, although no flipping pay phones around so ended up being a 6 minute mobile convo :-( but will keep trying on my search to find a pay phone to use one of the 2 phone cards I now have (will give you a call back home if one of them ACTUALLY works anywhere that is!) then back to the beach for what turned out to be one of gregs hour adventures along the beach leaving us all fairly knackerred so back to the hostel for pina coladas! yum... cost you only 75p! and highly alcoholic too! hehe :-) unfortunately we forgot to tell the owners the main light in our bungalow was broken until after dark... so just went to bed early as a result - but was a painful night of too cold from air con, baking hot after having turned it off, the fan being too loud to sleep, then again too cold, too hot - was a bit of an up and down night but never mind! not as though we had to get up early!!!
so on to today - probably actually got up arund 10ish - I went off to the beach along at half tennish after smothering myself as per in sun cream (sticky yuck but still no burn you'll be happy to know mum!) jess and greg went off to get breaky elsewhere and find an atm cos with the card/money situation they were in need of more pretty quick, then they joined me on the beach, and around 2ish we all got drinks and hired 2 mopeds from the hostel - greg taught jess and I went on the back with greg - spent the whole afternoon till around 6.30/7ish driving around ko samui - stopped off for lunch - more yummy fresh fruit! and found this amazing secluded beach in the middle of no where with this brand new spa resort on it for 17,000 a night... considerring we only spend about 800 tops for the 3 of us a night that is a hell of a lot to be spending!!! still did look bloody incredible - pool looking out over the beach, a bar in the middle of the pool so you could actually sit in the water and drink your cocktail! looked blissful... we were sneaky and asked to go for a swim but werent allowed as it was brand new and they had clients looking around thinking of investing etc! but they did hire us a couple of kayaks to go out in the water for half an our for just a few quid between us so me and greg went on one and greg took one out (he used to be a kayak instructor apparently?!?!) so just went out and around for a bit by the rocks - got completely drenched by greg splashing us with his paddles while me and jess just sprayed him a little each time we gave it an attempt... so got back to the beach and managed to convince the guy at the resort to let us have a shower - I'll show you the photos but it was amazing!!! so we then hopped back on the mopeds back to the hostel - we'd gone a lot further out than we thought! then I yet again tryed the phone boxes... tried 5 today - no luck whatsoever! :-( but did at least try! cold showers back at the hostel and we hopped back on the mopeds all mossy-sprayed-up for dinner - ventured out to a pizza place (jess had cravings me thinks!) for a yummy but rather expensive pizza and now here I am writing away in an internet cafe - they even gave us water - from tescos! yes - they do have tescos... and mc d's... and subways... and boots... and burger kings here! theres so much deveopment on the island its insane!!!
but was a much better day in comparisson to the stress of the past few! we have the mopeds for tomorrow too - so we're thinking of going east coast maybe till about 3ish when we have to give them back... oooh and we say the 'big buddah' on big buddah beach here - it's huge! you'll know when you see the photos of it... was cool though! then the rest of tomorrow on the beach and off to koh phangan on a boat the next morning! think that covers plans so far... hope this isn't too boring to read and that you're all doing well - let me know how you are!!!
missing you all lots! L O L & X's xxx
