Well for the past week i've been in the outback and oh my god it's so different from the east coast and 'm not really sure it i really enjoyed it but glad i experienced it. I started in darwin which was realy hot and humid too hot to really do anything apart from sun bath and go swimming, i styed in a hostel in the centre of town which was nice but there wsa nothing to do in darwin at all. I spent two days realaxing by the pool and reading magazines, exciting i know but i wasn't use to the heat.
I did a two day tour to kakadu the local national park which was supposed to be amazing, well i wasn't impressed. It was dry season when i went and the wonderful waterfalls were dry due to the heat. We visited a waterway and went on a cruise we did get to see some crocodiles but they were small freshwater ones. I wanted to see big salt water croc's. We did get to see lots of birds and cows also on the cruise. We went to ubirr where we viewed some aborginial artwork which was thousands of years old and climbed a rock which was used in the filming of indiana jones. There were really good views of the countryside from the top of the rock. We stayed at a camp site which was quite comfortable and clean but i did get really bitten from the mosquito's (sweet meat as mum says).
The secind day we went to jim jim falls really early which we all moaned about but was grateful after we did the rock climbing to get to the base of the waterfall. Here we went swimming with the fishes but then we had to climb back which was really hard due to the heat. Thank god for air conditioning in the van.
I think that i would recommend kakadu to people but go at the end of the wet season so you can get the views of the waterfalls as i saw photos and was really disappointed with my expereince.
I did meet some really nice girls on the trip and two travelled down the next part of the trip with me which made it easier. Next stop alice springs in 3 days.
