Tasha's Travels
Hello
We're now in the Cameron Highlands, we've been here for 2days and are off to Penang in about an hour.
Things have been quite eventful over the last few days- and not in a good way. Our last day in KL didn't turn out as expected either!
To start off with we almost saw a car full of guys get killed in a car crash- thats a tad dramatic, but the guys over here are so concerned with calling out at you and trying to chat to you that they failed to notice that their car had drifted into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic and a huge lorry was hurtling towards them- it was a very close shave...serves them right for pestering us!!
We had read about a temple thats set in the Batu Caves, up 272 steps where there are lots of monkeys and it looked pretty spectacular, so we headed out to get the bus there, over an hour later we were still at the bus stop absolutely drenched from the heat and our enthusiasm for the temple had left us so we nipped in a cab and indulged in some much need retail therapy! It did the job!!
In the evening we had booked into the 'exclusive' sky tower restaurant, where you need to book several days in advance. The welcome was all very fancy and lots of people were really dressed up, but it was actually a fairly lame bouffet with some seriously dodgey food- and really expensive as well..............but the views were great and we had plenty of fun anyway, so it was a nice last evening- just not sure i would recommend you all packing your bags to go there!
Yesterday we arrived in Cameron Highlands, the journey was pretty windy, but the views were stunning and we had blue sky and sunshine- something we haven't seen for a while! The town is really nice and bustling and our hostal was great. I also found this amazing jungle trek with blowpipe hunting and waterfall swimming along with the famous Boh tea house and strawberry farm tours.
Unfortunately, our tour was cancelled due to the rain and the jungle trek was out of the question- i was really gutted. We spent the day inside the hostal sheltering from the bucket size rain watching dvd's- thank god for those!!
Fortunately we got onto the tour this morning for the tea plantations, strawberry farm, bee house, butterfly farm and insect museum. To be honest- none of them were overly interesting, we did see a lot of weird bugs though and got to eat the most delicious strawberry's! But the tours are a bit of a joke and we had to pay entrance on top of our tour ticket ( still so cheap). So i would say Cameron is worth going to for the sites and atmosphere, but not a lot else!
Off to Penang now- hope for some sun!!!
