After superb weather all week, they said there was rain coming; guaranteed. Sure enough, about 4 a.m. flashes of light woke us up. I went outside with my simple compact pocket camera and randomly took pictures just hoping that by pure chance, I'd click the shutter as lightning illuminated the clouds. After about 50 goes, one worked, at least partially. You couldn't see the fork of the actual strike, as it was buried deep in the clouds, but the picture seems to capture that ghostly image of the maelstrom, fleetingly preserved by the light of a million volts.
