The North Sea, UK
One more day at sea before docking in Southampton and yet another fine cruise has come to an end.In our 6 days aboard the Grand Princess, we have now solved the mystery of the 'missing bong'!! A few days ago I wrote about the lift ‘binging’ but not ‘bonging’ when it arrived at a deck. I was premature when suggesting that this was another slight defect in the refitting of the ship a month or so ago. This is an ingenious idea to as...
Bergen, Norway
Another early start for us today. However, this time it wasn't wholly by choice. As the ship was only in port for ½ a day from 07:00 – 14:00 we decided that we’d ride the Fløibanan (funicular) to the top of Mt. Fløyen then afterwards have a wander through the old quarter . As every tour seems to go via the funicular as it is Scandinavia’s only cable railway. As there are at least 3 cruise ships due in Bergen today we planned to get there ...
Olden, Norway
Olden is a small town that lies about 65 miles at the very end of Norway's majestic Nordfjord.Although today was an early start for us, by the time we awoke, the Grand Princess had already berthed alongside the quay in Olden. This fjord starts at Alesund, Norway's largest fishing port and winds 50 miles before hitting Hellesylt. There are only 2 excursions scheduled at Hellesylt. The piers on Hellesyt are not big enough to accommodate a cruise ship so a tender service is provided. You could say that those who had a guided tour were taking the 'Fjord ...
