Statue Of king Henry VIII
This college was founded by King Henry VIII. He wanted wealth from the land, but his wife convinced him to build a better college in his name instead. He originally had a scepter when the statue was created, but college students thought it funny to replace it with a chair leg. Since then, its been written into the bylaws of the school to have the chair leg present. Though the loss of the scepter is saddening, it's awesome that the college has instead taken the prank as a part of their history. Beneath the statue are coats of arms. The coats represent their six sons, but blank one represents one who died young. It seems as though the King cared for his sons much more than he did his wives.
