Suzy and Darrian's Adventures
Hi hope everyone is well, Thanks to everyone that has been writing us emails and comments in the message board. Lots has happened since our last journal. We spent last Sunday night in Notting Hill, very nice the Notting hill festival was on while we were there. So we wandered around for a while, lots of music, food, and alcohol. Monday we started our 7 day haggis tour at 8am in the morning. We headed up to bath the first day looking at some sites on the way, they have all the roman baths in bath. We spent the night in a dorm with 3 other couples in bunk beds, bit like being back at camp (lol). Tuesday we headed up towards Wales looking at some castles and old churches before heading to a farmhouse in Wales. The farmhouse had dorms and a bbq hut, very nice. We all got together and made a big bbq, (don't think too much of their meat). Wednesday we zigzagged back into England to ambleside, a small little town. On the way we stopped in a small town called Llanfairpwllywyngyllgoerychwyredrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, (have a go at that one). We even got our passports stamped there. Apparently it's the 3rd longest name in the world. We stopped for lunch in Conwy (Wales). We went into the castle and climbed some really steep stairs, gorgeous views though. The town is surrounded by a giant wall. The scenery is so gorgeous, lots of nice old building and gorgeous green gardens with lots of flowers. Thursday we headed up to Edinburgh and we stopped at Aira force waterfalls national park for a walk to the fairy tree, water falls and forest. The fairy tree was a fallen log with all coins pushed into the tree and wished on for good luck. We than stopped for lunch at Hadrian's wall, we wandered up to the wall which was built by the English to keep the Welsh out. We got to Edinburgh and all the married couple had, had enough of dorms. So we got together and managed to find a really good apartment for 2 days with 4 double beds and 3 bathrooms it was so big and quiet cheap. That night we all went out to dinner and we tried a plate of haggis it had lungs, intestine and heart served with mash potato and turnip. Yuck hey, right up Dads alley hey. Friday we did a full day tour to Port Augusta in the highlands and did a river cruise on loch ness looking for Nessie, we got a good photo of him. Than we headed down through Glencoe and looked at all the gorgeous mountain, lots of films had been filmed there. Very cold and wet, but once again to beautiful to ruin our day. Saturday we headed towards Beverly a small town near York. We stopped in York for a couple of hrs to look around, but it was raining so we didn't get to see too much. This town was also surrounded by a wall. We went to check in to the hostel to find out there were separate male and female dorms, so we both had a lonely night. The town was really weird, we stayed in an old church. Kind of creepy, they say it is haunted. Sunday (today) we headed back to London, long day travelling. We stopped in a gorgeous town called Stratford it was where Shake Spear came from. It was a nice sunny day, really nice little town. We needed more time to look around, but we only had 2 hrs there. Anyway we are back in London we are having a rest day tomorrow and organising the next couple of weeks, than hopefully Tuesday we are off to Dover than Paris, than Munich, (More information on that in our next Journal). For now take care.
Hugs
