Barcelona, Spain Feb 17, 2017 Another Gaudi creation - La Pedrera Casa Mila. We only saw the outside of this one. Gaudi is promoted as a favourite son of Barcelona in all the touristy blurbs.
Barcelona, Spain Feb 17, 2017 Basilica Santa Maria Del Pi in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona. Construction of the current basilica was commenced in 1320!!! and was completed in 1391. The majestic rose window is one of the largest in the world and is beautiful. We managed to sneak in (with permission of course) to check it out and it's spooky to read the dates on some of the gravestone set in to the floor - one was 1671 and another 140?. Today they're crowd funding to keep the church main...
Barcelona, Spain Feb 16, 2017 There are not many cars in the centre of Barcelona so folk get around on scooters, motorbikes or bicycles. This pic shows a common scene around the city. The red bikes are hired by locals on an annual rental agreement and they pick up and drop off a bike at any location. Clever idea. There are many taxis - all black with bright yellow doors and boots. The Catalunya Square is the hub of the city. There are hundred of pigeons encouraged by folk feeding them seed....
Barcelona, Spain Feb 16, 2017 At the huge marketplace close to our hotel. There were food stalls with everything edible thing you could think of. Meat, fish, fruit, spices etc, etc. it was all so fresh.
