One more day of work! So...should probably be finishing my handover doc. I haven't taken more than 3 weeks off in a looooong time, pretty excited to have a full 5 weeks of adventure stretching in front of me. Last minute packing decisions still to be made: hiking shoes (leaning to yes due to increased number of treks I am planning to add to my joyful beach time). Long socks (recalling the leech experiences of Laos again think yes). Girly paraphernalia such as hair dyer (going with no, will suck it up and wear a headband)...what happens to us as we get older? 5 years ago I wouldn't have even considered my hair dryer as needing to accompany me around the world. I'm caught in a confusing, strange place between wanting to be 20 again and live on 56c a day, stranded in the dingy hostel because i have no cash; and knowing that, really, I didn't ever enjoy doing that. anyway, it seems pointless now (esp with so little time off) to travel and do nothing when you arrive. Whatever, regardless: hurrah for being old enough to have the coin to do this sort of trip (mixing it up between flop houses, guest houses and palatial resort type houses) and hurrah for doing it solo where I can do whatever I want. Must learn to eat and drink alone (the boozing I can probably handle hahaha)
