Day Eleven, Mykonos, Greece
We woke up around 7am, opened the curtains to see we had arrived in Mykonos. We don't really notice any movement on the ship and it is strange to open the curtains and see different scenery each time.
After breakfast we got off the ship and jumped on a 2euro water taxi to Mykonos town which was about a 10 minute ride. Weather was fine and warm.
Once we got to the town we explored the labyrinth of white alleys which contain shops, restaurants, homes and importantly a chemist. Steve has come down with a cold and we needed to buy something for it.
We made our way through the alleys towards the famous Windmills of Mykonos. These were built to take advantage of the wind and crush grain into flour etc. None of them work anymore which is a shame and the buildings are now mostly private homes. It was a great view from the windmills down towards the bay, harbour and ships in dock.
From here we walked towards the bay where Steve ticked off another item bucket list when he went for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea. The beach was stoney and the water was refreshing but not cold.
We then sat down at a restaurant overlooking the bay and had lunch. We all ordered an entree of Greek Salad which was authentic and one of the best we've tasted. Donna ordered an Ouzo on the rocks which complemented the meal.
We then walked about 3km back to the ship and got back on board about 1:30pm. Steve had a swim in the pool and Donna relaxed on the balcony until 5pm when we got ready for dinner.
The ship was due to depart at 6pm so we all went up to the lawn deck, ordered a drink and watched as we left Mykonos. We then went down to the Silhouette dining room for dinner. This dining room has amazing food and excellent wine which is all part of the package. We had a table near a window and watched the ocean cruise past as we ate.
After tea, we decided to call it a night at the early time of 8pm. Overnight we will sail into the Dardenell straight past the Gallipoli Peninsula towards Istanbul, Turkey.
