So I figured I'd combine Venice and Verona since I've been a slacker about posting pictures and blogs lately. We headed out of Florence straight to Venice and were lucky to get a hostel with the All Saints holiday screwing up our easygoing hostel attitude.
Jessie's friend Jenny flew in on the 30th for her two week stint with us and we had a decent little dinner at a restaurant in one of the piazzas. I spent the first day, rainy and water coming out my ears, cruising on the boat bus to the island of Murano, where it is famous for glass art. It was pretty much heaven on earth for me! Ispent an ungodly amount of money on things to deorate my future house and of course some souvenirs! I was very glad I came to Venice for that reason alone!
Day two the three of us took the bus boat down the Grand Canal to San Marco square, where all the famous stuff is, haha, and wandered through a million pigeons and tourists, through back alleys to various shops and pizza places, then back around to the hostel to regroup.
Now I have arrived in Verona, alone, as Jessie and Jenny are staying in Venice another day, heading over to the Cinqueterre, while I go to ROME!!! I can't even tell you how many weeks I have been waiting to go to Rome! I've got a ridiculously impossible itinerary that I'm hoping to accomplish.
Anyway, back to Verona, it is the most beautiful place in Italy thus far. Yes, more so than Venice even. It's got the signs of fall with stunning yellow leaves falling from their branches, old buildings and arenas reflecting Roman times, a gorgeous river flowing under picteresque bridges. It's just fabulous! So I'm off to find some cheap dinner and head back up to the hostel/mansion where I'm staying the night.
