Well we,ve had a two day drive out of Tanzania across the border into 'The warm heart of Africa' - Malawi. We stopped off at a farm house in the middle of nowhere which was owned by some English woman and it had a well nice bar where we could drink hot chocolate and toasted marshmellows over the campfire. It was so nice when all you're used to is s***ty warm water all day. Funny thing happened though (and you probably had to be there really, but I'll tell you anyway, cos me and Alex were falling over ourselves laughing). Right, there's Vince, this mad aussie, he likes to be centre of attention and so is always messing about, and then there's this sweet, bubbly, lovely, cheerful other aussie - Jo, who's a bit older than Vince and deserves a bit of respect, who was just minding her own business sipping her hot chocolate when - Vince slapped this hot sticky white ball of marshmellow right bang in the centre of her forehead, she and her friend weren't impressed and I tried not to laugh but had to make my excuses to leave as Alex was already practically falling over everyone to get outside to laugh, in the meantime poor Jo was left trying to get the gooey mess off her forehead! (Think you had to be there really, but it was well funny)
Ok, moving on then - we're in Malawi now and it is supposed to be home to the friendliest Africans, and so far we haven't been dissappointed, they're all so cheerful and smiley. When we stopped at one of the border checks an officer boarded our truck - get this, carrying a gun in one hand and a dead fish in another - dunno what that's about maybe some sort of custom or could be his dinner, either way it gave us a laugh.
Boring news, me and Alex haven't been feeling the best of late, I've been off my food with a bad stomach and Alex much the same really and when we arrived at our beachside campsite in Malawi we were greeted with proper rain which made us feel worse, this morning wasn't much better, so we played table tennis under shelter, pool, monopoly!!! BUT NOW THE SUN HAS COME OUT!!!! It's the afternoon, power has come back on (hense, why I'm writing this) we,ve played volleyball on the beach, the lake is gorgeous cos its fresh water not salty. Oh while I remember, do you know what they call mini chedders over here? - Saltycrax! Woohoo! I had a shower this morning with a lizard and a frog which was nice, Alex tried to better me by saying she had a crocodile in hers, so I topped that by saying I had big momma in my shower! then it got ridiculous! From what we've seen so far Malawi is beautiful it's just a big strip of land in the middle which seems to be like mountain ranges and hills and then the lake, we're here for a further three nights, give us time to sort out our washing and stuff. Well, its been nice talking to you! Please do all keep staying in touch its well nice! Emily, thank you so much for your message that was well nice, you can email me on [email protected]
