Left Freiburg after a lovely breakfast that was included in the room rate. Headed for France dodging the toll roads but Ken got a bit confused with a closed road and sent us through a tunnel that cost us 7.90 euros. Arrived in Metz and even more confusion with road closures. We finished up having a really good look through all the pedestrian shopping malls but unfortunately we were driving through them. See today's photo as that is the street that we actually managed to drive down! What a laugh! We were following a German car that was obviously as lost as us. Maybe the locals thought it was WW11 all over again with a French car chasing a German car through the streets. Eventually managed to find our way out to a proper road and the hotel. Had a few minutes to catch our breathes and get over the stress of the unwanted tour of downtown Metz. Went for a walk this time and a really beautiful city when we had the time to look. Had my first chocolate au pain ( chocolate croissant) and yes, they still taste fantastic in France. Did a bit of a pub crawl around town and finished up back at the hotel restaurant for dinner which was fantastic for 17euros for 3 courses.
