A dreary ride today as we headed uphill on the A7 after a minor navigational error in the Travel Lodge Car park, oh dear Howie! This was not a very pleasant ride and before long Mr Scrabster had decided to change his wheel or his pedals or possibly his bike! After a while th epace picked up and we swept through Dumfries and on towards Lockerbie. Lunch was a sombre affair as we spent some time in silent tribute to Nick Guild before pressing on.
Soon the peleton rolled on through Echelfecphan and eventually into Canonbie, cheered on the final hill by a gaggle of girls on a trampoline enjoying the only fine day in Scotland this summer! Joy in Canonbie where we found we were stopping at a very fine Inn called the Cross keys Hotel, Real Ale on tap and a very good restaurant, although no Wi Fi access! Again! The only depressing note was the weather forecast, wet and windy, a bit like Lindsay, reputedly!!
