Nee How (hello) my peeps! Well what can I say about Hong Kong but WOW! This place totally rocks!
We got here at 7am yesterday & have hardly stopped. After checking in to our luxury hotel on Hong Kong harbour we got straight out amongst the hustle & bustle of the city. We took a boat across the harbour which cost about 12p to main land China Kowloon. Before getting on the boat we managedto get mugged by some guy dressed as a monk! Well… when I say mugged… he walked up to us and started handing us all these things out of his bag (lucky charms & so on) then as soon as you had them in ya hand he started demanding money for them! What a cheek! So anyway we ended up paying $500 (£35.00) for two plastic cards or so called lucky charms! Suckers we are!
Anyway we still had some funds for shopping so headed to the markets of Kowloon. They were quality; they had a gadget market where you have never seen so many mobiles in your life! Then they had this market of tat! Selling everything from Man U shirts to Chinese Chopstix . Then my favourite on of all, the wet market where you could buy a live chicken for $65 or £4.00 (a much better deal than a lucky charm for £35.00) Then they would kill & cook your bird there & then for you! Jamie Oliver would have a field day down that market, the poor Mr Cluckies were about 20 per cage. But it was an experience to see it all. Other things for sale here were live tortoises & eels and god knows what else but it was total quality!
Then as the sun set on our first day we took a trip around the harbour on Chinese Junk Boat. It was gold! We got free wine; it was almost like the Buddah bar at home, but it is on a boat! After the tour we watched some lazer show thing, were all the buildings light up and that! Then to round off the night we had an authentic Chinese meal including roast goose (you know, the birds that hang in the window? Well one of them!)
Our second day was all go too! We took a bus ride to the other side of Hong Kong Island to go for a meal @ 'Jumbo' (floating Chinese restaurant) so there was this free boat that took us there and we just fed our faces really. Lunchtime's delicacy of choice was chickens claw, amongst other yumee dim sum things. The place itself was way cool, you would never think you were on a boat it was all marble and posh bling bling. After lunch we headed of on the bus again (after getting on it & going to the wrong stop first that is!) to this place called Stanly Market were I got some of you some top class tat!
Then as the day rushed by we had a few short hours left to cram in one more thing, a trip to a place called Victoria Peak. It is this well high view point were you can see all the city & you have to take a tram up this big hill at a 45 degree angle (well funny!) After a few cheesy shots of the happy couple at the summit we managed to squeeze in one more chine chine (Oh yeah by the way ribs were included at all meal times!) And on this occasion the delicacy of choice was minced pigeon. It was well good (trust me!)
So after a huge rush to the airport (in our private Mercedes) and 12 hours of flying (some of which were a bit bumpy for me so booze & drugs helped out on that one!) It brings me to now. 11am on 17th March (AKA Black Monday) As I sit here with my large vodka and tell you all that the Whizzel of Oz part 2 (Outback Edition) has sadly come to and end!
