Haven't blogged in so long! My apologies, it's hard to write when internet is so expensive to use and often not that great connection and also when youre constantly on the road you don't find the time!
So now in Chicago and have been for the past two days, it's a great city, very clean and at the moment really sunny. loads of awesome art sculptures scattered around the place and even though the city is so big it isn't as overwelming as NYC or LA.
Started my 3 weeks of camping on Thursday which has been interesting, i can now successfully pitch my tent in quick timing. It's freezing at night but warm during the days and the people i'm camping with are a great bunch. Internet will be non existant until i hit San Fran in 2weeks time so don't expect anymore entries! Living the luxury of being in a hostel at the mo, i have never looked forward to a hostel bed more in my life! Camping wears you out and i've only done it for 3nights so far!
In the limited internet time i have left i'll try give you a low down on the past month, where i've been what i've done etc.
So since Banff, i eventually headed back to Vancouver for a night before getting my epic 3 day (72hour) bus journey across the whole of Canada over to Toronto. It was the weirdest, craziest but funniest bus journey of my life. It was hell, i absolutely stank by the end of it, i was starving hungry and i probably had around 7hours sleep over the 3days but it was an amazing experience. I'm telling you though, from Calgary to Toronto there was absolutely nothing, at least in British Columbia theres the scenery but once you leave there it is just empty empty land which was rather depressing. We also stopped off at one diner pretty much every 4 hours called 'Tim Hortons', i swear to god if i ever see that chain again i will shoot myself.
Lots of crazy but interesting people on the bus, there was also an ex con who decided to get drunk, wet himself and then start fighting people, safe to say we pulled over and he actually got arrested which was pretty funny. People who had been on the bus as long i had all kinda became a family, we'd eat breakfast together and chat on the bus and i was known as 'England' so everytime i went somewhere no doubt someone would shout 'Wheres England gone?' which to other people sounds really random. Anyway moving on...Toronto was cool, stayed with my Dads bezzie Martha which was lovely. The city looked completely different to how i remember it 10years ago. It was really nice having a couple of days in an actual home and being looked after was really needed!
My stop after Toronto was Montreal which is probably one of my favourite places i've been to so far. It's like stepping into a different country when you enter Quebec. It had a very european feel to it and i loved that everything was en francais! Although the French was different i got by pretty easily. It was beautiful, cobbled streets and loads of cool bars and places to go. Loved it! Hope i get to spend my 3rd year at Uni in Quebec.
From Montreal i headed back into the States to Boston! I visted the ivy league University everybody knows-Harvard, which was pretty sweet. It costs around $60,000 a year to go there-crazy! I only spent a day in Boston as the hostel was really pricey but i got up early and saw everything i wanted to see, included the beautiful Boston common.
Then came NYC where i met Big Sis for 6days which was great, again it was so good to have somewhere to leave your stuff without worrying it was going to stolen! We did loads of things, hired a boat in Central Park, ate in some amazing restaurants, drank too many but not enough frozen Margaritas, became very familiar with East Village, did loads of walking around and went to Brooklyn. The weather was fab and of course the sloth (aka me) was very happy to be reunited with my shrew (laura). After she left i only had one day so i went to the World Trade Centre and sunbathed in Battery Park whilst looking out at the Statue of Liberty.
From NYC i started my camping trip, first night we camped in the Finger Lakes region, still in New York state, we camped near a huge waterfall which was cool. Second night we went up to Niagra Falls which was saw all lit up at night which was spectacular! Then we moved on to Cleveland in Ohio and now i'm in a hostel in Chicago. Hired a bike today and went round the city which was loads of fun.
Tomorrow i head to Milwaukee and Madison in Wisconsin, Wed/Thurs will be spent in Badlands National Park in South Dakota and Friday is the day i'm excited for the most-Mount Rushmore! From then onwards i'm stopping off in palces such as Cody, Devils Tower, Sierra Nevada Mountains, Yellowstone, Yosemite,Reno, the wine valleys in California and many more places before ending up in San Fran on May 17th. Hoepfully i can update my blog then before i head out to paradise....Hawaii.
much love xxxxx
