We arrived in Hoi An and checked into the Hoa My hotel where Rach had told us to go as that is where her and Matt checked into the previous day at the end of the Easy Rider tour. We checked in and Rach must have heard my voice as she came out of her room to see me all moley eyed and tired. She shortly went back to bed and so did we after we got in our room.
A few hours later we all went for something to eat and a look around Hoi An. Hoi An is famous for having taylor made clothes, shoes, bags, anything and everything you can think of. We all headed to a shop to have a look at shoes and bags which could be made, Rach went for a pair shoes, a pair of boots & a bag, I went for a pair of boots, matt went for 2 pairs of trainers and a pair of shoes and Charlotte scuttled off to have some suits made for work. We went back later that night to collect out bits and bobs, Matt liked his but had a few adjustments to be made, Rach loved all of hers and mine?! Mine we just awful! They looked nothing liuke what I wanted or how they looked in the picture and I sure they would be too much even for Gary Glitter himself!! I told them I didnt like them but all hell broke loose, they wouldnt give me back my deposit, they isited on making another pair to which I told them they would be waisting their time and I wanted my money back. They were having none of it and wanted me to give them a second chance to which I said ok but I would not be paying for the extra leather etc and the manager assured me of this (to which I totally didnt believe!!!) and I was right, the next day I went to look at them again and again they were not what I wanted. I asked for my money back but they said that it covered the cost of the leather, well I wasnt having any of that, I argued with the manager for around 4 hours in total, I stayed clam throughout the whole ordeal but she was throwing shoes, boots, shouting, swearing. I politly reminded her that my friends were yet to the pay the balance on their items, that she had given me her word I would get my money back, and that this is not very good for her business, obviously this all didnt go down very well. In the end she gave me half my money back but told me that I should be careful as Karma would get me to which I reminded her that Im not the one who is Buddist and stealing frm people so "to you I advise you to also be careful" She soon changed her tone and very quickly became nice and very apologetic.
In conclusion to that I would say 'Dont get in an argument with the Vietnamese unles you can stand your ground" There one tough race and im not at all surprised they won against the Americans if their all that flippin mentle!!
The next day we hot footed outta there and got on the night bus to Hanoi.
As there was 4 of us we booked the back row of beds (5beds at the back, almost in a den type layout, how old are we? 6?) anyway we booked these beds and got on the normal bus for 4 hours to nearby Hue where we would get the sleeper bus from. On arrival into Hue we were quick to realise that we were in the middle of a monsoon. The water was lapping up at the bus steps and the steets were full with people wading through the water up to their knees! We got out and made sure our bags stayed dry and carred them over to the sleeper bus. I put my waterproof cover on (so glad I have that) and got on the bus to sort our beds whilst Rach, Matt and Charlotte waded over the road/river to get some food for the journey ahead.
They came back absoulty drenched but armed with Baguettes, Pizzas and crisps. We all got dry and comfortable and settle down for the night in our beds and slept for the 12 hours to Hanoi.
