This is a rather belated good luck from your Godmother. But Happy Birthday for Tuesday and I'm glad to hear you are having a fantastic time, and making the most of this wonderful oppotunity (we're not jealous!). The Macmillan household does now seem a little less frenetic, with fewer bodies floating in and out, but I know you are being missed. Your room has been left in limbo. All the Churchouses are well, Elizabeth is singing lots and the younger 2 are growing and fighting, lots, but yorkshire is great fun and we're all enjoying the great outdoors whenever possible. Good to talk to you over Easter and hope you are feeling better. You didn't have to go to such lengths to lose weight! Just checked the govt website on Bolivia and there are no specific issues regarding the political situation. There is some general warnings on crime which I have copied for you below:

"Crime

Since the beginning of 2006, there has been an increasing number of violent crimes against British and other nationals, and some foreign tourists have been murdered. You should exercise caution whilst travelling around Bolivia and be aware of the risks for visitors outlined below.

Copacabana, close to the Peruvian border and popular for those coming and going overland to Peru, has been the scene of recent violent attacks. Criminals have used life-threatening strangulation to disable and rob tourists. You should also be aware that criminals are also posing as police officers much more. In collusion with bogus taxis they target foreigners arriving in Bolivia particularly by overland routes. The tactics used by criminals are also becoming increasingly sophisticated, to the extent of using bogus police stations to fool victims. A recent example of this was in March 2006 when a British citizen was physically attacked and robbed of belongings late at night in El Alto on his way from Copacabana to La Paz.

Beware of individuals offering help at taxi points at bus terminals, particularly in La Paz. If you do use a taxi look out for a radio taxi (identifiable by the telephone number prominently displayed on the vehicles roof), and make a note of the taxis registration number and telephone number before starting your journey. Such taxis should carry no other passengers. If you suspect that you are being targeted by impostors you should note that you cannot be searched without a written order from a state prosecutor. "
