(Sophie) - We are currently in Alpine Meadows Resort near Clearwater staying in our very own big log cabin with a balcony overlooking the lake - it's amazing here. We arrived yesterday, and to get here we had to cross a river. There was no bridge just the tiniest ferry I have ever seen. It was basically a wooden raft that could fit just one car on and we floated across! Weird!
Once we had arrived we explored our cabin then headed down to the lake. Daddy went in first and swam around and then Belle and I joined him in the water. It was very cold and there were lots of small fish nibbling around my legs. We then went out on a rowing boat and then discovered the canoes and kayaks. At first I was a bit nervous of falling out of my single kayak, but after a quick lesson from daddy I was soon paddling my way across the lake all by myself and then Belle came out and joined me. I really enjoyed it and so today we all went out in kayaks and went further round the lake. Then mummy and daddy went out in a canoe and left me and Belle swimming in the water and reeds. We still had our life jackets on and I pretended to be a giant frog and chased Belle around. I even got to touch a bullrush which is very soft. After that we discovered a giant hot tub which we had to ourselves. It was so big we could actually swim around in it.
We are now relaxing on our balcony drinking coke and eating caramel pop corn. Tomorrow we are heading of to Jasper and the Rocky Mountains.
(Belle) - We are staying in a hotel that is a log cabin. Its is very, very big and Sophie and I have our own part of the cabin with our own bedroom and bathroom! We have been kayaking in the lake and splashing around having lots of fun. I have been bitten a few times by some bugs that we have named mosquifingers. Last night after dinner we played ping pong in the games room, there was no one else there and it was very funny. Sophie managed to hit the ball into the bin twice times!
We have seen hundreds of beautiful dragonflies, a strange grasshopper creature that flies and makes a very loud clapping noise, and some tiny hummingbirds. There is supposed to be a mummy bear and three cubs around but we haven't seen them yet.
