well, we have had a much more successful vistit to New York than we did to Boston! we have been here for 6 nights and were meant to be going to Philadelphia today but we both decided we could use another day here (and plus, we couldn't be botherd to get out of bed at 7am!)
we have done some cool stuff while we have been here, our hotel is about 2 blocks from a main subway line and luckily, the sub system in new york is brilliant! the first day when we arrived from boston we mainly just got accquainted with the area, got some dinner and had an early night. on our second day, we went shop shop shopping! off we went to 5th avenue, passing grand central and had a potter around there. we were going to go up the rockefeller or empire state, but by the time we finished shopping it was dark so we just got some dinner and went home. had a horrific nights sleep as some people in the room next door were up all night partying! and the walls are thin! wednesday we got on the sub and took a trip to ching chang chong china town and soho, which was pretty cool. it was manic, all the sellers trying to flog you everything! i was gaggin for some proper chinese food but soph doesnt like it so i went without :(!!! carried on shoppping, found the new TopShop and had a poke around (for any one thats interested - yes it is still expensive!)
again, we were going to go up the rockefeller/empire state so we had dinner right by it, but then it got dark again!
thursday was a cool day, we finally did some touristy things. we took the ferry over to the statue of liberty which was pretty awesome, its huuuge! so we spent some time over there, then came back to the land and got the sub up to Ground Zero. i thought it was kinda creepy, its so weird how the skyline just has a huge chunk missing out of it. i didnt want to stay there long because i thought it was a bit weird to take loads of photos and stuff, so we went for a wander and got back on the sub to times square. we were wandering around times square when we ended up back at macys! we didnt realise the two were so close together! so obviously, we had to do a bit more shopping (could i just point out, when i say 'shopping' i mean me waiting for hours for sophie to try on every item of clothing in the store!) we waited until it got dark and went back to times square to see the lights which was really awesome, but it was soo hot and we were really burnt!
friday we took a lovely little walk around central park and the resevoir, which was gorgeous, before heading down on the sub to wall st to see the stock exchange. we then went back to times square for dinner, and as it was the weekend it started getting so so so busy as its Labor Day today (so like a bank hol weekend) manic!!!
my timeis about to run out on the internet so i can't write much more, sorry this blog is a bit mumbo jumbo i was rushing! we did eventually get up the empire state though! and we saw mary poppins on broadway which was FANTASTIC.
will update (properly) soon!
love you xxxxx
