The family's little boy, Yahya, had to go to an appointment in Toledo today so it was a great excuse for us all to go on a day trip there! It was early. Well, earlier than usual which meant being awake and up at 8 am instead of the usual 9 am. Mohamed had to go somewhere on the train to get his forklift ticket and he needed to be at the train station by 8:30 am. Kate and Calvin went to Madrid today to explore the capital of Spain! After breakfast at home, we drove to Aranjuez and caught the train all the way in (Kate slept for most of the journey) to Sol station. Hanan had told us about Sol and apparently there is a tile on the ground nearby the station where you can stand right in the centre of Spain - we totally forgot this so missed this momentous opportunity! We woke up this morning to heavy rain and wind and when we looked out the window we saw snow and hail. But the weather soon changed and it was quite a sunny day but still very cold! We had delicious cheese and bread for breakfast at home and then did some speech therapy activities with Yahya. Calvin then prepared a delicious Asian lunch - kway teow tung. We all went into Aranjuez for a traditional Spanish breakfast comprising a hot drink, churros, tortilla, bread and porras. The churros - which were so fresh and tasty - only cost 15 cents each! After this we wandered through the Saturday markets - firstly the flea market and then the impressive fresh produce market. We bought mangoes (€1.50 per kg), a pineapple (€1) and some bananas (€1.50 per kg). We came home and did some more therapy with Yah...
