Soongies' Great Adventure
We had a delicious gourmet porridge as well as cherries for breakfast this morning. Then Calvin and Kate sorted out the campervan - we got the linen ready, put some things in their places and tried to figure out how everything was going to fit.
Once we did as much as we could, Calvin and Kate drove the camper to Cabazon - a 1.5 hour drive from Brawley. Cabazon is a huge outlet village literally in the middle of the desert.
We stopped for lunch, right next to Cabazon, at the famous In'n'Out burger place. On the inside it just looks like any fast food place with a limited menu. But the burgers are all fresh and handmade and they are delicious. And they are so cheap. For 2 burgers and 1 fries, it only cost $7 US. We read up about the company and apparently they are the only fast food place that pays it workers above minimum wage. And they haven't permitted franchises as they don't want to ruin the quality of the burgers.
Once our bellies were satisfied, we headed over to the outlet village. Kate's mission - to find some walking sandals. Calvin's mission - to find a hat. We both achieved success! So we celebrated with a juice from Starbucks.
We then drove back to Brawley and then walked to the swimming pool in an attempt to get some exercise again but unfortunately the pool was still closed. So we wandered back home and ate food instead. Aunty Betty had made us char kuey teow (rice noodles) and tofu bao buns which were delicious. We had jack fruit and apple boa buns for dessert followed by a few games of bananagrams with Calvin, Kate and Betty.
