My "going away" party at Schiphol. My flight was delayed from 17:45 to 18:30, which everyone was totally fine with. We had a nice late lunch at the Grand Café until we thought it was time to move towards my gate, F8.
Because I was at the gate rather early, pilots and airplane staff were checking in themselves. I got to wear the pilot's hat for a brief period of time.
Eventually I went and sat next to a fat American (he was American, and he was larger than three versions of me.) A nice start, I thought.
I was smart enough to take a grand total of zero pictures or videos while on the plane. The comfort was excellent though. Lift-off was speedy and we were above the UK before we knew we were flying. I got a free upgrade to Economy Comfort, which is well worth the money. 10cm extra legroom means the world if you're sitting there for 8 hours.
Their entertainment systems are really great. I watched an episode of Curb your Enthusiasm ("Nice chat'n'cut. I respect your skills" -"Thanks") and rewatched Gladiator. I was entertained.
Honestly, when we landed, I still had so many more things to watch and do I couldn't believe 8 hours already passed.
