This is a brief one just to say that I am alive and kicking more or less in Ramallah. I arrived in Amman around 9.30pm on the 25th, met some koreans and japanese (as one is want to do) and then headed across the king hussein bridge. Taxi there was 20JD (5 each) and then we had to pay the extortionate fee of 4.25 for the JETT bus to take us across the border. Then a 40 NIS ride into Jerusalem. Pricey...though it was strange to see Jerusalem again after almost three years before when I had sworn I would soon return. Also made more poignant by the fact that both the taxi driver who took me from queen alia into amman and the one who took us to the border yesterday were both Palestinians unable to go and visit their homeland. Instead they have to be content with ferrying foreigners to and from the border, never crossing the bridge themselves.
Of course the joys of the constant questioning as to my purpose in Israel lasted on and off for a period of 3 hours, but seeing as I coudn't really give them any specific details, they had to satisfy themselves with my vague answers about travelling and maybe finding an organisation, which is now what I am going to do. A plethora of organisations exist, and now it is up to me to phone around and see if any of them need volunteers. fun fun fun methinks. I think I will strengthen my resolve with some falafel. Oh how I have missed it, though I daresay that sentiment will not last long.
