Another day and another lie in. We change up some more Soms and head north to the next city of Samarqand. Probably our last big city of silk road importance before we enter Tajikistan and the remote highlands.
More roadblocks. No hassle. More bad roads. No problems. It's almost too easy.
Good mosque. Mosque fatigue sets in.
Finally speak to Susana.
See golden arches so succumb to some western food to settle the tummy however as we draw closer it appears they're not real mcdonalds logos even though they look the same and the walls are decorated with the same paint as the new Uk trendy MaccyDs. As we enter the staff tell us they are closed. Doh! However as we exit some locals eating around a table demand that we join them. We obviously take their hopsitality and they pull up some seats and tea for us. They are uzbek and they yell us that they are celebrating Ramadam and eating supper together. Huw gets a full plate of lamb whilst i munch on roast potatoes and samosas. It's a full a banquet I tell them and in pidgin English we all discuss football, our route and Ramadam. They are on day four an finding it hard with no eating or drinking during daylight hours which is tough here as it's light at 6am and doesn't get dark till 8pm.
Lovely grub.
