The four dangers: elephants, rhinos, bears, tigers.... Oh and crocodile infested rivers!
Chitwan, Nepal
Hello! We have just got back to Kathmandu after a few eventful days at Chitwan national park...
Our journey to Chitwan from Pokhara was not much fun. Our driver thought himself a bit of a boy-racer. At 7.30am we had 90's club music blaring at top volume out of our bus as we took some of the mountain bends at ridiculous speeds! But we arrived in one piece and our hotel was nice. That evening we went to an entertaining cultural show where several of the crowd (Americans mostly) decided to join in!
The next morning, however, we had a nasty shock. At 7am we were all loaded into a very narrow canoe that sat incredibly low in the water. This was unnerving enough by itself without our guide telling us all about 5 minutes into the journey that not only was the river infested with "dangerous" crocodiles, but also it has been known that they attack people whilst they are in the canoe! Olivia did not enjoy the 45 minute canoe ride... The jungle walk was more fun, although our guide did his best to unnerve us again by showing us his scars from a bear attack! On the way back to the hotel before lunch we went to the daily 'elephant bath time'. We got to join in and had a great, but wet, time. That afternoon we went on safari on an elephant. This was incredible. We would have been very happy just with this. However, we were also lucky enough to see three rhinos, one of which was a mother with her baby. Because we were on elephant back we could get up very close safely. The rhinos really are armour plated. We really enjoyed Chitwan over all!
Nepal is an amazing country. We feel we have made the most of the time that we had here. We have enjoyed Nepal the most out of all of the countries we have been to so far.
