Simon & Kim's Global Adventure
We arrived in San Antonio city centre not extremely sure of how to get to our hostel on the other side of the city. After wondering around with out heavy bag for a while trying to find the bus stop we needed, Kim went into a rather posh hotel to ask for directions. After a few minutes the hotel receptionist managed to find the bus route we needed and pointed us in the right direction. We manged to find the stop and boarded the public bus across the city. After about ten minutes on the bus we got off at the stop we thought was nearest to our hostel, which turned out to be in the middle of a very unsavoury neighbourhood! When we finally arrived at our hostel we were both pleasantly surprised as it was large wooden manor house. We checked in to our allocated room and were once again pleasantly surprised as it has a four poster bed, sofa and fridge and was decorated in a Tudor theme. After staying in dorm rooms for the past few weeks, we were both happy to have some luxury and privacy. Kim was really pleased to have a big white fluffy dressing gown. That night we went to the local bottle shop and bought a few beers and stayed in and watch a film on the plasma tv that was also in our room.
The next morning we made our way into the centre of San Antonio to see the sights. We started our tour at the famous "Alamo' which was a pivotal part of the Texan Revolution. After looking around the Alamo museum we made our way to the River Walk, which is the main tourist attraction of San Antonio. The River Walk is a charming part of the city, which is made up of bars and restaurants. That afternoon we stopped for lunch at a Texan/Mexican restaurant and ate the worlds largest burritos, which left us rather uncomfortably full for the rest of the day.
