So as promised, the blog is coming to you in beautiful 30 degree heat, no beer as of yet though, later ;). So last time i blogged we was just leaving Hong Kong to start the real South East Asian leg of the trip. I didn't particularly like Bangkok, it was ridiculously hot and sweaty and every other step you take, they'll either be someone trying to get you into a Tuk-Tuk, taxi, bar or trying to sell you a nice tailored suit, yeh that's exectly what i need in this heat!!
That's not to say i didn't enjoy Bangkok though, we had a really great guesthouse with a very cheap restaurant, and we definately made good use of that! We did quite a lot of sight seeing in Bangkok, like everywhere... But the highlight was definately the Grand Palace and it's surrounds, quite expensive entrance fee by Thai standards, but worth it, probably more impressive than the forbidden city in Beijing.
Day number 5 in Bangkok and i finally got my Vietnam visa, Silje doesn't need one because she is Scandanavian, what is that all about! Anyway that meant we could book onward travel and that meant Chiang Mai, finally getting way from the big cities, ahhhh!
Chiang Mai is the adventure capital of Thailand and there is tons and tons of tours you can do for as many days as you like. We don't have so much time here so decided to take a one day tour that included, Elephant trekking, trekking on foot through the jungle to a waterfall, hill tribe village visit, white water rafting and bamboo rafting. Sounds very hectic but it didn't it didn't feel so, great day and mucho pictures :).
Today is our last day in Chiang Mai so we decided to do a bungee jump, biggest in Thailand so we was told, Silje reluctantly agreed! Haha. We both survived and definately got our adrenalin kick for a good while. I was actually surprised at how nervous i was, a lot lot lot scarier than a sky dive! Hopefully we will get the videos on facebook soon.
I'm going to be sad to leave this place actually, very chilled and beautiful weather everyday, but we have to keep moving on and that means Laos! The most chilled out place in Asia?? Let's hope! It's going to take us over two days to get from here in Chiang Mai, Thailand to Louang Prabang in Laos, the reason being we are taking a two day one night slow boat down the mighty Mekong river, should be epic and a fantastic experience.
Right people, i'm signing out now. Hope your all well, as always blog when i can next be bothered :)
