Heey everybody.
Two weeks and the first country has pasted. Southafrica is amazing! I started in Jo'burg where I stayed with a guy I met on couchsurfing.com. He was kind and took care of me. The next day I left with the Bazbus to Drakensburg. the Bazbus is a bus where you buy one ticket and can hop on and off as many times as you want, on the route.
In Drankensberg I stayed on the Sani Pass Lodge. The Sani Pass is the old trading road into Lesotho, and Idrove on the long dirtroad up to the boarder. There we had local beer with the shephards. I also did some hiking a long rivers and up to the top off some mountains. It was great!
Already there I found out that it would be easy to find people to talk to and hike with.
After two nights there, I got a lift to Durban. I have on purpose awoaded the cities, because I'm alone, so the next morning I left for the wild coast (the 18 th sep.). I had been recomended to visit Bulungula, and so I did.... it was heaven on earth! From the bus to the lodge there was a three hour drive in a 4x4 and we were nine people plus luggage in the car! The lodge was by the beach in a little village. The local use the lodge as communityhouse, because that is the only place there is electrisity (made from the sun). The toilet was a dirt toilet (and the hen lived in the cabin) and the showers were rocket showers, where you used parafin the heat the water. We slept in the small round huts and every building was decorated with coulors and shells. The staff was great and I had the time off my life!
It was the locals who did all activities, so we went riding on local horses and the last day a english guy, Charlie, and I hiked to Coffee Bay (8 hours) with a local alkoholic. He was really kind and liked beer! :o)
african time is a time off it's own! Things are done when yofeel like it - everythingis very layed back!
Ater my paradise I went to Storms river on the garden Route. there I went canopy climbing in the forest. I had met a guy, Daniel, in PE, and he lived in Storms River. He showed me around, toke me to the Bungy jump (which I did! The world's highest - 216 m!), showedthe the forest and more. he is a landscaper, so he knew everything worth knowing about the nature!
Charlie came to Storms River and we both went to cape Town. On the Bazbus you keep on bumping into the same people and I have got a lot of new contacts.
In Cape Town, I stayed two days with a friend of Arun, the guy from Jo'burg. He was very nice, and showed meCape Town by night and the beautiful beaches. I spent a ot time with a german girl,Beate, and we went up table Mountain together.
I also went on a day trip the Cape Point and Cape the good hope, and there I saw lots of animals and met some great people.
Now I've just arrived in Windhoek, Namibia, after a 20 hour busride. I could havepent all my time in Southafrica, and I want to go back.
Now the volenteer work awaits and I'm sure it'll be fun as well.
More photos will come later.
Bye bye! :o)
