Wednesday the 30th of Dec - morning walk and Swan Valley
Had breakfast with Amy at 9ish, James was still asleep. Afterwards we went for a long walk around Mosman Park and Amy showed me the area, and what a beautiful area with parks, walking trails, and view of the sea.
Amy asked me what I felt like doing today and I asked if she/they felt like having lunch at a Winery in the Swan Valley - she thought it sounded like a great idea and asked James if he wanted to join.
We picked up James at his house and drove towards the Swan Valley, which is a famous Wine region 25 min drive East of Perth.
We called a Winery and asked them if they were still serving lunch because it was around 2pm when we finally arrived at the valley area. They told us that they were serving lunch until 4pm and that we could just come on in. When we arrived at the Winery the carpark was almost full and we managed to squeeze the car in. Happy that we got a spot we walked up to the bar desk and asked for a table for 3 persons but the lady seating people told us that they were fully booked and didn't have anything available until later on. This was a huge disappointment since they had told us to just pop by and didn't say anything about having to make a reservation.
After that depressing message we went back to the car with stomachs screaming wondering what to do then. We started calling Wineries in the area which was listed on a website advertising the Swan Valley area and asked them if they had any available tables and everyone said no - expect one - after having tried 12 different wineries we found one who were willing to let us in even though they were closing soon.
So at approx. 3:15 pm we were finally ready to enjoy some well-deserved wine and food. And yum yum it was sooo good. I went for a 'Farmers basket' which had different kinds of bread and crackers, cheese, pâtés, a vegetable gratin, olives and a few other bits and pieces I can't remember now but I remember that it was delicious :-) And of course no visit to a winery without a yummy glass of wine as well :-)
After having eaten we drove to a pub to meet up with some of Amy and James' friends. There was going to be a big Cricket game on this night. James and I had a beer, James stayed to watch the game with some friends and Amy and I drove back to her house.
Later that night one of Amy's friends, Katie, came around and we had some more wine, cheese and crackers :-)
