The next day, Shawn and I were supposed to go on a half day tour to the ruins in Tulum, but our bus came to our hotel a half hour early than they were supposed to and left without us! Luckily, a nice couple from Saskatoon gave us their tickets for a full day tour to the ruins in Chichen Itza because they weren't feeling well, so we really lucked out with this one as well! On the 2 hour drive to Chichen Itza, we visited some Mayan villages and learned about their culture. Unfortunately, the Mayan people who are the natives of Mexico receive such a lack of support from the gov't so tourism has been a way to help them.
