Underneath those ugly tiles apparently there is a wonderfully detailed plaster ceiling in keeping with what you see around the top of the wall there. There are plans to remove the false ceiling and restore the decorative ceiling above it. I'm glad about that. Shame to marr such lovely detail with that hideous modern false ceiling.
